Robotics Deep Dive: Edge-Controlled Automation with Mobile Manipulation
10 April 2025
14:00 – 15:30 CET
Join us for this insightful webinar on Edge-Controlled Automation with Mobile Manipulation, where we explore the integration of edge computing, 5G connectivity, and mobile robots in modern manufacturing.
In this session, we will dive into a real-world use case that demonstrates how edge computing and 5G technology enable real-time control of mobile manipulators for efficient (dis)assembly processes. By offloading computationally demanding tasks—such as SLAM-based localization, path and motion planning, and AI-driven object perception—to an edge server, the system significantly improves efficiency while reducing the processing load on onboard systems.
With reliable, low-latency 5G communication, high-bandwidth sensor data, including 2D/3D LiDAR point clouds and camera streams, can be transmitted seamlessly, ensuring precise and responsive robot operations. This setup addresses the limitations of traditional wireless networks, empowering robots to perform complex tasks in dynamic and fast-paced production environments.

How to evaluate the Impact of 5G Use Cases in Industry: Insights into a Methodological Assessment Framework
8 May 2025
14:00 – 15:30 CET
Join us for this session where we’ll introduce the Methodological Assessment Framework (MAF), designed to evaluate the value of 5G-driven use cases in various industries. In the first year of the project, we identified key insights, including the distinction between explicit and implicit value propositions. Explicit propositions show immediate benefits, while implicit ones reveal long-term value from implementing use cases. We also developed User-KPI and User-KVI for all 12 TARGET-X use cases. These metrics are tailored to capture the impact of 5G technology on sensor integration, data accuracy, and process stability, offering new insights for more efficient industrial applications. The MAF was further refined in the second year, emphasizing the user experience to drive the digital transformation of industries. Feedback from stakeholders like 5G-ACIA, 6GIA, and automotive companies validated the framework’s approach to quantifying both the techno-economic and societal value of 5G solutions. In the final project phase, we will iteratively assess each TARGET-X use case and refine the MAF to ensure it delivers actionable results for businesses, paving the way for innovative business models and the wider adoption of 5G solutions in industrial settings.
In this webinar you will discover the potential of TARGET-X’s tools to measure use case impact.

TARGET-X Energy Deep Dive: Energy Monitoring and Energy Consumption Awareness
28 May 2025
15:00 – 16:30 CET
This webinar focuses on the use case for monitoring and analytics, specifically in the context of deploying voltage, current, phase, and energy measurement devices at a trial site. The primary goal is to promote energy awareness by enhancing transparency and conducting measurements that allow for the assessment of the local grid’s condition.
The implementation of this use case followed a three-step process. First, measurement devices were deployed at key points using an Edge Cloud Phasor Measurement Unit (edgePMU). In the second step, a measurement campaign was conducted, gathering valuable data. Finally, in the third step, the acquired data was analyzed to build a comprehensive database, laying the foundation for energy transparency analysis.
Join us in this webinar as we dive into the architecture, the deployment process, and the pilot sites involved in this project. Learn how these steps contribute to achieving energy transparency and improving local grid monitoring.

TARGET-X Network Edge orchestrator | Dynamic service orchestration
26 June 2025
13:00 – 14:30 CET
The advent of fifth-generation cellular networks has ushered in new possibilities for a variety of applications, particularly in industrial environments, due to features designed to ensure Quality of Service (QoS), such as network slicing, and enhanced performance levels. This trend is expected to continue and expand with 6G, which will intelligently allocate network resources and further optimize QoS fulfillment.
The complete lifecycle of use case resource chains necessitates the integration of edge solutions to host applications and services utilized by network User Equipment (UEs).
This session will present the integration developed within the Target-X project to streamline the process of provisioning virtual environments at the edge and mapping specified computational and network resources to corresponding data flows. Additionally, the network-aware dynamic service orchestrator will be introduced, which dynamically transfers computational resources from field-edge to far-edge to adapt to network availability in mobile scenarios.
